Suspect caught on camera in Burlington church robbery

Church parishioners in Burlington were in shock today at Sunday Mass after finding out their building was broken into and robbed late Friday night.

Just before midnight on Friday, security camera footage taken from inside the church shows a man breaking in the front door and making his way up the stairs towards the church’s audio-visual room. That’s where the Mass is recorded and live-streamed online.

The man was inside the church for about 45 minutes, making his way into a variety of rooms, eventually taking off with about $5,000 worth of items.

The church has reported the theft to Halton police, and they were told an officer will be coming by to collect the video recordings early next week. Meanwhile, the church says they have already taken measures to improve security.
