A 62 year old woman and her one year old puppy may never be reunited because of a car crash.

Both woman and dog are now in hospital torn apart by a driver who was allegedly texting on her phone.

Diane Cowling is at the General Hospital. After what she’s been through she doesn’t think she’ll ever be able to care for her dog Susie properly again, so she’s been forced to give her up.

Diane Cowling suffered broken ribs, a broken wrist and she’s seeing double after a woman in a car hit her at Aikman and Sanford in Hamilton Thursday morning.

Witnesses say the 39 year old driver from Burlington may have been texting.

While Diane is in critical condition in hospital, Susie’s vet bills are adding up.

The driver’s auto insurance will not cover the vet bill. The East Mountain Animal Hospital says it’ll use it’s donations to pay for Susie’s surgery.
