Surveillance video captures arrest of Const. Greg Pierzchala’s alleged killers

More emotional details about the death of OPP Const. Greg Pierzchala were heard in court today – including testimony from the officers who arrested the accused killers.
Over the last two days, the trial has centered around surveillance video that captured the moment several OPP officers took Randall McKenzie into custody.
In the video, McKenzie can be seen alongside Brandi Stewart-Sperry. The pair frantically rush through the bushes, trying to get away from several police officers.
Before long, the two separate, with Stewart-Sperry turning herself in as McKenzie continues on his own.
Throughout Friday’s proceedings, the court heard testimony from the arresting officers who were there on that cold winter night.
One officer recounted how he heard a gunshot go off in the tree-line where the search for McKenzie was underway.
Another told the court about getting approval to search for the weapon, which was seen on the footage being thrown into a field.
A third officer testified that when he found the firearm, its slide was locked back – indicating a final round had been discharged and the magazine was empty.
Today marks the conclusion of the second week of this trial. Court is set to resume on Monday.
