The prosecutor overseeing the sexual assault investigation of Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane says the accuser’s mother lied about finding an evidence bag in her doorway.
The alleged victim’s former lawyer, Thomas Eoannou said earlier this week that an empty evidence bag was placed inside the door of his client’s mother’s Hamburg, NY home, raising questions about possible evidence tampering. The alleged victim’s former attorney abruptly quit the case yesterday, saying he believes there were “fabrications” in her mother’s report.
Frank Sedita, district attorney for Erie County, New York spoke to the media today, saying all of the evidence remains in police custody.
“Neither bag, not that plastic bag, not that hospital bag contained the rape kit. They are not evidence bags. The forensic evidence in this case was not tampered with, nor was it compromised.”
“The last person seen with the brown paper bag on August the 2nd, 2015, was the same person who reportedly discovered the same paper bag, that being the complainant’s mother.”
The alleged victim’s lawyer says he’s still confident in the woman’s allegations against Kane. The woman alleges Kane sexually assaulted her at his waterfront mansion outside of Buffalo on August 2nd. He has not been charged.
