The Federal Indian Day School Community Support Program is offering free support sessions for former students of Federal Indian Day Schools.

The one-on-one sessions are facilitated through Argyle and will run in Six Nations on Nov. 7 and 8 and Hamilton on Nov. 9 and 10.

They will help provide information about a 2019 Canada-wide class-action lawsuit settlement agreement to compensate people harmed while attending the schools.

Nearly 700 Indian Day Schools were operated across the country. First Nations, Métis and Inuit children were sent to the federally-run schools during the day.

Former students have until July 2022 to submit their claims.
