Annual Hamilton arts and music festival seeking twice the funding.
A request for 125-thousand dollars for the this year’s edition of the festival was denied by the city’s general issues committee.

The motion lost on a tie vote, split along urban and suburban lines.

It could be overturned when the matter comes up at city council March 27th.

Supercrawl received 60-thousand taxpayers dollars last year.

Organizers say they need the extra money as they plan to expand the festival, including waterfront stages and a shuttle bus to get visitors between venues.

The James Street North festival attracted 80-thousand last year.
