Successful marine rescue on Lake Ontario

Hamilton and Halton police marine units worked together to perform a rescue after a boat was overturned Sunday afternoon.
Hamilton police responded to a mayday call around 1 p.m.
They were able to locate a 29-year-old woman who made the call after a 16-foot catamaran capsized while trying to perform maneuvers to recover a man-overboard.
After the boat turned she lost sight of her companion.
Police continued the search and were able to locate the 34-year-old man 2 kilometres from shore.
He showed some signs of mild hypothermia but was not injured.
Police say luckily the man and woman were wearing life jackets and wet suits.
Police say they were “instrumental in preventing this incident from turning tragic.”
