A Hamilton doctor has spent the last 35 years following pre-mature babies from their early days into their thirties.

Doctor Saroj Saigal is a Neonatologist at McMaster Children’s Hospital. Her research has been published in numerous medical journals over the years, and Monday, she launched her book Preemie Voices. It includes 41 letters written by the preemies about their lives and their medical journeys.

Saigal: “What I wanted to do is write a book from the perspective of the premature infants and give them an opportunity to describe their lives in their own words.”

Her research has revealed pre-term babies show as much long-term promise and achievement as those born at a normal birth weight.
