Students sent home after school fire

Students at Hamilton’s Elizabeth Bagshaw Elementary School are being dismissed after a fire in the school this morning.

It started in an empty classroom on the second floor. Students were evacuated to the nearby red hill learning centre, where parents are being asked to pick them up.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Fire crews are still dealing with heavy smoke, and students are being dismissed as a precaution. The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is contacting parents.
