Stoney Creek townhouse fire causes $100K in damage

An electrical fire in a Stoney Creek townhouse complex Tuesday caused approximately $100,000 in damages.
Crews responded to the multiple-alarm fire shortly after 5:30 p.m. at 238 Highway 8 between Norwich and Warwick roads.
Additional firefighters came to help battle the blaze after crews arrived to heavy smoke and flames coming from one of the eight garages in the complex.
“Due to the prompt and aggressive efforts of fire crews, the blaze was rapidly extinguished and prevented from entering the habitable portion of the structures,” the Hamilton Fire Department said in an email to CHCH News.
The department said no one was injured in the fire.
Only two units were damaged, as well as other content losses such as a motorcycle.
“Quick, effective response and intervention of HFD crews resulted in the protection and safeguarding of several million dollars of property,” the department said.
