Steve Jobs dies at 56
The world has lost one of the greatest minds of it’s generation.
Large crowds have been showing up at Apple headquarters in California to remember Steve Jobs.
His final public appearance was the unveiling of Apple’s iPad 2 in June.
Looking quite frail, he stepped down as company CEO just two months later.
He dropped out of college after one semester, and later built a computer circuit board in his garage with pal Steve Wozniak.
In 1976, the 21 year old formed Apple Computer along with Wozniak.
The company helped usher in the computer age of the 1980’s with the Macintosh.
The iPod was released in 2001, and the iTunes online store in 2003.
The iPhone followed four years later, with the iPad tablet after that.
With seemingly every new product unveiling, Steve Jobs looked more frail.
He underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer in 2004, and an eventual liver transplant.
He died Wednesday at age 56.
