Steel workers honour veterans
Hamilton honoured its veterans and steel workers with a special unveiling Friday.
‘Steel-Canada’ unveiled a refurbished “cenotaph” on the grounds of its ‘Hamilton-Works Plant’ as part of the company’s annual Remembrance Day ceremony.
The empty tomb was erected back in 1959 to commemorate the significant role played by Canadian Steel Workers and their families during the Second World War.
Over 2,000 employees from ‘Steel Canada’ served during the war.
The new monument is also dedicated to steel workers who served in the First World War and the Korean War.
