Steel expert says incoming tariffs will hurt both sides of border

CHCH News Anchor Matt Ingram speaks with Keanin Loomis, the president and CEO of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction.
Ingram asks the former head of Hamilton’s Chamber of Commerce questions surrounding his approach to the Donald Trump’s incoming tariffs.
Loomis explains why he went to Washington and what he was saying to convince Americans how severely the tariffs will hurt both sides of the border.
Loomis also responds to what Premier Doug Ford said on NBC Monday, that “he is prepared to turn off the power to the U.S. and stop all shipments of nickel.”
Focusing on the incoming tariffs, Ingram asks how soon an impact could be seen in Canada’s steel industry – Hamilton in particular – and how Ottawa should respond to the tariffs that go into effect Tuesday.
