The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have released veteran receiver Dave Stala.

Stala, 34, spent five seasons with the Ticats after signing as a free agent in 2009. He is a native of Poland but grew up in Hamilton and went to Cathedral High School.

He had 10 catches for 144 yards in 14 games last year. The 198-pound star began his CFL career with Montreal in 2003.

In a statement, Ticats head coach Kent Austin said “I’d like to thank Dave for his efforts on and off the field and wish him all the best in the future.”

The team cut Stala on Tuesday, but announced the news today.
