St Joseph’s hospital giving back

For the past 10 years social workers at St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton have been involved in a special campaign to bring Christmas to the individuals and families in their care.

After identifying those in need, they work with the families to create a wish list. Various departments at the hospital will then sponsor an individual or family and purchase those items.

This year the drop off for all the gifts are at Lyn Roberts’ home. Lyn – who’s been a part of this fundraiser for years – is still impressed with the effort that goes into helping those in need.

“Last year all this boy wanted was an iPod. I got him one. I don’t know how I did it. It’s amazing how departments just give.”

Last year, they were able to bring Christmas to 100 families. Aside from presents for children, staff workers also purchase necessities, including gift cards from various grocery stores around the city.
