The president and CEO of St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is taking on a new position.

Kevin Smith has accepted the job of CEO for the Niagara Health System. He had been serving as supervisor of the NHS since August 2011.

Ontario health minister Deb Matthews announced the permanent role yesterday. She also announced the province will provide over $26 million to the NHS to implement Smith’s proposals for a new hospital in south Niagara, along with two urgent care centres.
