St. Catharines woman charged following head-on collision

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has reopened Highway 406 in Thorold following a serious head-on collision.
It happened around 5 a.m. Tuesday between Highway 58 and Beaverdams Rd.
Police say a grey Chevy sedan was travelling in the wrong direction on the southbound lanes of Highway 406 when it struck a white Mitsubishi hatchback.
Video from the scene shows the white vehicle with extensive damage to the driver’s side and all of the airbags deployed.
The 50-year-old man who was driving the hatchback was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police say the driver of the sedan, a 23-year-old woman from St. Catharines, has been charged with impaired driving and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
Both vehicles have been towed from the scene.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact OPP.
