St Catharines-Toronto ferry idea floated

A dream for a high-speed GO Transit ferry between St Catharines and Toronto could be just that: a dream.

The man behind it, Sean Polden, a former candidate for St Catharines city council who now lives in Toronto, hopes the province will jump onboard.

A spokesperson for the transportation minister says Glen Murray would consider ferries as part of a broader strategy, but that a Niagara-specific ferry is not something he’s currently looking into or advancing.

Polden even admits one of the problems would be trying to run ferries in the winter.
