St. Catharines man stabbed

On May 25th around 11:20pm, the Niagara Emergency Services and the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Westdale Drive and Rykert Street, in St. Catharines in response to a male that had just been stabbed.

Police learned that the 22 year old victim got into a physical altercation with another male and suffered a single stab wound to his back.

The victim was taken to the St. Catharines Niagara Health System and then airlifted to the Hamilton General Hospital with serious injuries.

The suspect was arrested a short time later.

Charged with Aggravated Assault and Uttering Death Threats is 24 year old Liban Ahmed Shardi of St. Catharines.

Both parties were known to each other and the victim has now been listed in stable condition.
