Niagara police have laid another sexual assault charge against a 30-year-old man.

Niagara Regional Police Service launched an investigation back in February into an alleged sexual assault.

Police say the alleged incident took place in 2017 and involved a 21-year-old woman.

Investigators say the victim and the accused both attended Brock University at the time and were known to each other.

Mohamed Abdi Ali, of St. Catharines, was arrested on May 1 and charged with two counts of sexual assault. Ali was previously charged with sexual assault on Jan. 23 in an unrelated incident involving a member of the Board of Directors of the Brock University Student Union.

He is scheduled to appear in court on May 2 in St. Catharines.
