A gas war between two stations in St. Catharines has been going on for a week. The price at the pumps has been dropping each day, it sat at 81.2 cents a litre throughout the day and motorists played a waiting game.

Some waited 10 minutes, and some were there for about a half hour. But everyone insisted that the wait was worth it.

The price of gas first dropped at the Esso, and then ping ponged back and forth between stations until it got down to 81.2 cents a litre.

A petroleum expert said the two gas stations are losing money at this price, but are likely subsidized by their head companies.
