St. Catharines fire causes $500K in damage

A building in St. Catharines has sustained extensive damage after a fire broke out Wednesday evening.

Crews were called to a home on Vine St. South just before 6 p.m. The building houses three apartment units and all residents managed to get out safely.

Video from the scene shows a portion of the structure fully engulfed in flames as firefighters attempt to knock down the blaze.

Officials say damage is estimated at roughly $500,000.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
