Some Hamilton residents say speeders on their street have killed their pet dogs and are worried people will be next, if the city of Hamilton doesn’t do something to slow people down.

Dozens of children play on Steven street between Wilson and Cannon so we equipped resident, Carol Andrews with a radar gun and she caught at least 2 speeders.

“Once you’re in a residential area it’s 50 and it should be 30.”

Carol says 2 dogs have been hit and killed in the last year in this area by people she believes were speeding. Ward 3 Councillor Matthew Green says he’s working on the problem and in an emailed statement he says:

“that’s why I have begun to work on a ward wide traffic calming strategy. This strategy will work together with residents and staff to develop sustainable ways to make traffic safer in our community.”
