Speed and alcohol possible factors in fatal Flamborough crash

Hamilton police say they believe speed and alcohol may be factors in crash that killed one man and seriously injured another.

Police say around 6:20 p.m. Thursday, a Toyota Sienna van was traveling westbound on Safari Rd. west of Middletown Rd. in Flamborough.

A man riding a Harley Davidson Motorcycle in the opposite direction crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck the passenger van head on.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the van, an 18-year-old Hamilton man, was air lifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say they have not been authorized to release any details about the victim.

This is the city’s tenth fatal collision investigation of 2017.
