Special weather statement still in effect for City of Hamilton and the GTA

A special weather statement is still in effect for the City of Hamilton and extends to regions across the GTA.
Environment Canada says the snowfall will gradually wind down Saturday morning.
The weather agency says a Colorado low continues to trek towards Southern Ontario with snow continuing to affect the region early Saturday morning but should become patchier and lighter during the morning hours.
It says there may be some light freezing rain later Saturday morning into the afternoon as well, followed by some rain for regions closer to Lake Erie.
Total snowfall amounts of five to 10 centimetres are likely before the mixed precipitation begins.
The precipitation will change back to snow or freezing rain Saturday night or early Sunday, as cold arctic air returns. A couple more centimetres of snow are possible by Sunday morning.
Environment Canada warns poor winter driving conditions are expected to continue especially Saturday.
“Motorists should adjust their travel plans accordingly and allow extra time to reach their destination,” the agency said on its website.
A reminder to anyone travelling by plane this weekend or picking someone up at the airport to make sure you check flight schedules before you head out. Make sure to check both departures and arrivals for any delays or cancellations.
