A special weather statement is in effect for parts of Southern Ontario with strong thunderstorms expected Thursday morning.

Environment Canada says there is also a threat for isolated wind gusts up to 85 km/h and small hail.

The storm is expected to continue to track eastward throughout the morning.

A special weather statement is the least urgent type of alert and is issued to let people know that conditions are unusual and could cause concern.
