Special weather statement in effect for Hamilton

A special weather statement is in effect for the City of Hamilton with a significant amount of precipitation expected to hit the Golden Horseshoe as we head into the weekend.
Environment Canada says a large system from the United States will spread snow across Southern Ontario.
The snow may mix with rain causing poor travel conditions on Friday and Saturday.
The City of Hamilton says a Cold Alert is in effect for the city. A Cold Alert is issued when current or anticipated weather conditions are at or below minus 15 degrees Celsius or minus 20 with wind chill.

CHCH News Weather Specialist Steve Ruddick says although we may not see a lot of accumulation today, the snow will create bad driving conditions.
