Special weather statement affects driving conditions in Hamilton

Residents in Hamilton are advised of a special weather statement in effect with drizzle and fog causing hazardous driving conditions.
Foggy skies are leading to near zero visibility in some areas in the region Thursday morning.
Environment Canada says locally dense fog is expected to dissipate later today.

Significant rainfall is also expected, heavy at times, with 15 to 25 mm predicted.
Environment Canada says the track of the Colorado low responsible for this rainfall remains uncertain. Should the track of this low change, the amount of rainfall predicted could also change.
With heavy rain in the forecast, City crews are preparing to respond to potential flooding and the City is reminding residents to take steps to prevent flooding in and around their homes.

Starting as light showers and drizzle this morning, the rain will become heavier before changing to snow after midnight.
Meteorologists say a few centimeters of snow can be expected by Friday morning.
