Special Weather Advisory in effect for Hamilton

Environment Canada has released a weather alert for the City of Hamilton. It says that conditions are favourable for the development of funnel clouds.

Funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. They are normally not a danger near the ground. However, Environment Canada says that may intensify to become a weak landspout tornado.

Heavy rain is also expected to continue at times today. In an earlier alert, Environment Canada said that the local rainfall could be up to 50 mm per hour and that localized flooding is possible.
