Special Investigations Unit terminates investigation into Hamilton police officer

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has terminated an investigation into an interaction that occurred between a police officer and a 53-year-old man last month in Hamilton.
SIU says on March 8, two Hamilton police officers attended a home in the area of Rymal Road East and Upper Sherman Avenue for a domestic dispute call.
On the front porch of the home there was a heated verbal exchange between one of the officers and one of the occupants of the home. SIU says It escalated to the point of violence.
The officers eventually left with no arrests made.
SIU says two days later, the man reported to Hamilton police that his wrist had been injured. It says the medical records did not disclose any serious injury within the mandate of the SIU.
The Director of the SIU, Joseph Martino, has closed the file and the investigation is now in the hands of Hamilton Police Service.
Back on March 10, Hamilton police said that it was aware of a video showing the interaction and that the officer involved had been suspended.
Hamilton police say the officer is currently still suspended.
