Hundreds of people and their furry friends attended the Burlington SPCA’s annual Rocca Sisters fundraiser on Sunday.

Cupcakes, treats and free bandanas were being handed out to those who visited Ren’s Pets Depot in Burlington in an effort to raise money for the animal welfare charity.

Tanya Rocca, one of the event organizers, says that anyone with a pet knows the importance they play in our day-to-day lives.

“There are a lot of animals out there that don’t have homes or don’t have the necessities that they need, so we’re here supporting that.”

She said that while money can go a long way for the SPCA, there is also a long list of items the agency constantly needs help resupplying.

“We all care, animals are innocent, they deserve the best life. They’re just as much a part of our community. We need to come together as a community and help these animals.”

The event even had a professional photographer who was offering free photoshoots for pet owners and their four-legged friends.

When asked how hard it is to get an animal to pose for a picture, she said it isn’t too hard if you dangle a treat in front of them.
