Son charged with murder in father’s death on Stoney Creek mountain
A 29-year-old Hamilton man has been charged in his father’s murder following a stabbing on Stoney Creek mountain.
Police responded to reports of ‘family trouble’ at a home on Highland Rd. around noon Wednesday.
Officers found 60-year-old Janusz (John) Harpula in the doorway of the residence suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
The victim’s son, Thomas Harpula, has been charged with second-degree murder.
He is set to appear in court by video on Jan. 17.
A post mortem is scheduled for Friday. Police say the family is asking their privacy be respected as they deal with their loss.
