Soldier in court on murder charges

A Canadian soldier appeared in an Ottawa court today to face murder charges in connection with the death of his wife.

50-year old Howard Richmond was arrested and charged with first degree murder on Friday.  He appeared in court via video link.

The body of his wife, 28-year old Melissa Richmond, was found last Sunday in a ravine next to a shopping centre parking lot. She was found partially clothed and had been stabbed several times. Her funeral was held this morning.
