The Golden Horseshoe woke up to a blanket of snow Monday morning. While in some places it was just a dusting, in south Niagara residents are getting tired of shovelling.

As if they haven’t had enough already, the south end of Niagara is being hit with another round of lake effect snow.

“Hate winter. I’m so sick of this. The snow can go away any time now.”

Look out over Lake Erie and you can see the snow coming in.

“This is the fourth time that I’m clearing snow.”

Walking in this weather can be hazardous and driving is worse.

A woman was rushed to hospital this morning when her car spun out on the QEW’s Thompson Road ramp and hit the guardrail.

A three-year old Milton girl was killed over the weekend when her mother lost control on snow-covered roads, hit a ditch and then slammed into a hydro pole.

Harry Pietz is making a run to The Beer Store with his scooter on the road. If he was on the sidewalk, he thinks he would get stuck: “It’s alright there. But if you go down here, you see a pile of snow down here. There’s no way you can get through that.”

Others have been trapped inside by the snow.

“The only thing when I had to go to work, I could not go out.”

Seventy-five-year old Maria Derby loves shovelling: “Enjoy. I’m healthy and happy to do that.”

In South Niagara they’ve been shovelling and blowing and pushing snow out of driveways for days.

The best way to get around down here right now, is by snowmobile.
