Hours-long standoff with barricaded person on Barton Street ends: Hamilton police

Hamilton police say an hours-long standoff with a barricaded person on Barton Street is now over.
Police initially sent out a tweet around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning announcing the closure of Barton St., between Sherman Ave. and Kinrade Ave.
“The safety of everyone involved and the public is our primary concern, as such we ask for your patience as we work through this,” said the tweet.
Person ‘wanted’ by Hamilton Police barricaded in this home at Barton St & Sherman Ave. They are wanted for an incident police are investigating (occurred yesterday). Residents of the apartment evacuated for safety. Barton St is closed in this area. @CHCHNews #HamOnt pic.twitter.com/6OV8bnFPmH

Viewer video sent to CHCH News shows police officers using a Hamilton Fire truck to get onto the roof of a building.
Just before 10 a.m. police issued another tweet, saying the situation is ongoing.
Hamilton Police continue to work through the incident at Barton/Sherman.
We believe we have the appropriate resources in place to bring this to a peaceful resolution.
And we are prepared to take whatever time is necessary to do so.

At 1 p.m. police said the incident had some to a “successful resolution.”
