Slippery roads lead to crashes

Slippery roads are being blamed for a fatal crash involving two vehicles on Fiddlers Green Road in Ancaster last evening.

One person was killed and two others were hospitalized, and the investigation kept Fiddlers Green closed until early this morning.

Yesterday’s snowfall made roadways across the region slippery, although only a dusting landed south of Hamilton and along the shore of Lake Ontario.

Many parts of Ontario were hit with their first major snow this weekend, with around 20 cm on the ground in snowbelt areas.

Hamilton Police reported a number of crashes, mostly in Ancaster and Flamborough, and a number of vehicles had to be pulled from the ditch.

There were also several crashes in Burlington, but none of those resulted in any serious injuries.

There could be ice on the road this morning so drive carefully.
