Slippery evening on the roads

While we didn’t get anything like what they`re dealing with in Buffalo, snow has been falling for much of the day, particularly in the Niagara region.
Right now it’s very windy here but there is a lull in the snow. It seems to come in waves. On the drive to Grimsby it was fine, then it became a blizzard.
The snow really began to fly about 7:30 covering the roadways and blanketing trees and cars.
Environment Canada issued a wind warning for the Niagara region with gusts up to 90 kilometers an hour at times over the next twelve hours.
Some truckers were stuck at the Fifth Wheel Truck Stop on the North Service Road in Grimsby, waiting for the border to open. Others pulled off the highway due to the heavy snow.
As the roads became snow covered, a mini-van slammed into the guardrail on the QEW Hamilton bound.
Crews were out clearing snow and salting and brining the roads.
There was even lighting in some areas.
Drivers had to pack their patience.
“I just came in from Mississauga, from the airport. I left at 5:30.”
“Terrible, really bad. Especially on the 407.”
“Horrible. No, they’re not too bad. But they’re slippery in spots.”
“The roads are not bad with the truck. But I’ve got winter tires on.”
“Actually, it’s my first winter in Canada so it’s very good. I like it actually.”
But as quickly as it blew in , it blew out. The snow has stopped, but it’s still very windy. But it’s a little warmer, the temperature has gone up to about zero. Most of the snow on the roads has already melted.
