Skyway dump truck driver in court

The man charged last year after his dump truck smashed into the Burlington Skyway Bridge was supposed to be in court this morning, but instead he will return to Hamilton next month.

34-year-old Sukhvinder Singh Rai of Brampton faces several charges, including impaired driving, dangerous driving, and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

The Ministry of Transportation says it didn’t get the damage fully repaired until April, at a cost of more than $1.2 million.

Rai’s lawyer says they need more time to determine which way to proceed with the trial.

They’ll be back in court on September 18th.
