Ski resort in Milton remains closed amid mild temperatures

An area ski hill is reeling in the wake of unseasonably mild weather conditions as they’re forced to close their online booking system.
Glen Eden is a small ski and snowboard resort in Milton with 17 slopes and they have been struggling to open this winter season due to the lack of snow.
An update posted to Glen Eden’s Twitter on Wednesday says they have decided to close their online booking system for the time being.
“Even with our best intentions to get our hills up and running, the weather just doesn’t want to cooperate,” the ski resort said in the update. “For now, we don’t have an exact re-opening date.”
Glen Eden has been eager to open since the beginning of the ski and snowboarding season.
Mild temperatures and high amounts of precipitation have continued to affect their snowmaking operations.
Sometimes though, even with our best intentions to get our hills up and running, the weather just doesn’t want to cooperate, and we have to change our plans. While we had hoped that we could re-open midweek, the weather hasn’t quite turned as much as we hoped it would.

The decision to close the online booking systems comes after continued efforts to open the ski hill this winter season.
AJ Leeming is the Senior Manager of Programs at Conservation Halton and Glen Eden and says Christmas break is usually one of their busiest times.
“That time, the time that kids are off school and families are out looking for things to do together, is important to resorts like ours,” Leeming said.
Residents are encouraged to follow Glen Eden’s Twitter for continual updates on the ski resort.
