Six Nations energy farm agreement
Six Nations has reached an agreement with Samsung and Pattern Energy Group to build a large wind and solar project; but not on the reserve.
The Grand River Renewable Energy Park will be a 250-megawatt project in an area claimed by Six Nations between Cayuga and Dunnville in Haldimand County.
Much of the area is owned by the Ontario government, which gives all the lease revenue to Six Nations.
A Samsung spokesman says the deal comes after almost two years of negotiations.
Construction is expected to start in the fall.
