The SIU is investigating a death in Scarborough
Toronto Police were called to the area of Warden Avenue and Hymus Road just after midnight due to reports of an armed man in the area. The SIU says that gunfire was exchanged and a man was shot multiple times. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. An officer was also hit and taken to hospital.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
