SIU investigating after man shot in Brant by police officer

Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after an officer shot a 27-year-old man Monday in Brant.
The Special Investigations Units (SIU) says Brantford police attended the area of Scenic Ridge Gate shortly after 4 p.m. to make an arrest.
A media release states that there was an interaction, and one officer discharged his firearm at a man who was in a vehicle.
The SIU says the man fled in the vehicle. Shortly after, police found the man in the area of St. George St. and Belaire Rd.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of an injury from being shot by the officer.
The SIU says four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
