Two police officers injured in a shootout Friday night in Mississauga have been released from hospital.

A 30-year-old man is dead and another person was also hurt in the incident on Queen Frederica Drive that began just before 11 p.m.

The two officers haven’t been identified but police say one was shot and both were stabbed.

They were taken to hospital in serious condition but were released Saturday morning.

At least 80 police cars were on the scene Friday night and a number of officers were there again on Saturday talking to neighbours and gathering evidence.

Although police have not released the name of the man who died, people living in the complex say he was suffering from mental health issues.

Police say no arrests have been made.

The Special Investigations Unit was called in to investigate as they are with any shooting that involves police.
