SIU investigates fatal fall in Welland

The province’s Special Investigations Unit says three investigators and two forensic investigators are looking into the death of a 46-year old man in Welland Sunday. The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where someone is seriously injured or dies. The SIU says that around five o’clock on Sunday, Niagara police were at East Main Street and Niagara Street to deal with a man climbing a bridge. Officers tried to speak with him but he fell to the road below a short time later and was pronounced dead at the scene.
