SIU investigates after vehicle driving without headlights crashes in Brantford

Ontario’s police watchdog has been called in to investigate a collision that sent two people to hospital Tuesday night.
Brantford police say officers spotted a vehicle travelling on the Wayne Gretzky Parkway without its headlights turned on around 6 p.m.
Police attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver failed to stop.
The vehicle was then involved in a crash at the intersection of Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Grey St.
Police say two females were transported to hospital with unknown injuries.
The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate because the duo was attempting to evade police when they were involved in the collision.
The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of police that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and the discharge of a firearm at a person.
