SIU investigate after a 57-year-old man fell from a Hamilton bridge

Hamilton police were called to Kenilworth Ave. South and the King St. overpass around 4 p.m. on Sunday, after a 57-year-old man fell from a bridge say investigators.

Kenilworth Ave. from Normandy to Lawrence was closed off until after 7 p.m. last night.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says they are investigating the incident concerning the man who fell from the bridge.

Officers tried to speak to the man and called the Mobile Crisis Response Team for help.

Upon arrival, police say the man fell from the bridge. Paramedics were called and took the man to hospital where he remains.

Investigators say the man has been apprehended under the Mental Health Act.

The SIU are involved in investigations when a death, serious injury, or sexual assault occurs.

Hamilton police won’t say anything because the SIU invoked their mandate.
