SIU clears Welland officer

A Niagara Regional Police officer has been cleared by the province’s Special Investigations Unit.

The officer was involved in a pursuit that resulted in cyclist being seriously injured. It happened in Welland in early September. The driver of a Jeep Liberty drove away while pulled over by police and hit the cyclist. The Jeep then smashed into a gas pump. The cyclist suffered hip and leg injuries.
