Sir Isaac Brock Day passes at Queen’s Park
From now on, Oct. 13 will be Major General Sir Isaac Brock Day, after a private member’s bill gained all-party support in the Ontario legislature.
Brock was a member of the British army who was sent to Canada in 1802.
He spent a decade preparing Upper and Lower Canada’s defences against a potential war with the republic gaining speed south of the border.
When a war with the U.S. finally came, Brock’s forces were outnumbered, but he still managed a victory over the Americans at Detroit before he was killed on Oct. 13, 1812 while leading his troops.
