Singh slams Trudeau’s response to Trump question

Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh is calling out Prime Minister Trudeau for comments he made in his daily address Tuesday.

Singh criticized Trudeau for refusing to outright condemn how US President Donald Trump is handling the nation-wide protest in that country.

Cities across the US erupted in violent protest over the death of George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer in Minnesota.

Singh says he thinks the Prime Minister should speak out about “the hatred and racism happening just south of the border.”

The NDP leader says Trump’s actions are reprehensible and ordinary poeple can’t be expected to speak out if the Prime Minister won’t do so.

Yesterday, Trudeau was slow to respond when asked about Trump’s actions, saying that Canada needs to take action itself on racism here.
