Niagara police have put a warning out as they prepare to conduct training exercises in a Niagara Falls tourist area.

The service’s Explosive Disposal Unit and Emergency Task Unit will be training in the area of Fallsview Blvd. and Robinson St. on Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Police say members of the public should expect to hear the sound of simulated gunfire and explosions. There will also be an increased police presence in the area.

Residents and tourists may also see and smell smoke throughout the day.

Niagara police say signage will be posted in the area.

Members of the public are asked to stay away from the training sites “for their safety and the safety of the officers involved.”
